Vastu & Child birth!

During the course of vastu consultations, I have come across many couples wanting to have a baby and have tried different treatments and remedies including astrological, visiting various temples, etc. but are still waiting for their precious gift from god. Reasons include stress, hormonal imbalance, low count, habits, etc. I do not want to go further as there are lots of materials available all over the internet.

As a vastu consultant, my suggestion is to immediately examine the East, SouthWest, SouthEast & NorthWest portions of the house and to see that these portions conform to Sri Aandal Vastu Rules .

  • East – Ensure there is no staircase and that the windows in the NorthEast portion of the house to remain open for 24 hours.
  • SouthWest – Ensure that there is no entrance, cut, internal corner staircase, toilet or any pit (like septic tank, bore, sump, etc) below the ground level.
  • SouthEast – Ensure there is no cut, toilet, internal corner staircase, pit or entrance from east in that portion.
  • NorthWest – Ensure there is no cut, internal corner staircase or entrance from north in that portion.

Why these portions/directions? Well…for successful childbirth, the important factors to be taken into consideration are healthy uterus, good sperm count, good relationship between the couple and most of all relaxed (unobstructive) mindset.

As it is not possible to give solutions individually through a blog post, this suggestion is common for everyone expecting a baby. The simple fact is that, if the six vastu rules are followed, these problems would not have arisen at all. I do not want to confuse or complicate further. Even after offering individual solutions some of the clients would not have rectified the defect in their building and would be procrastinating. Time is precious. Best Wishes!

Understanding Vastu – 5 (Vastu & Karma of Ancestors)

I have seen people talk about poorvajanma punniyam and that we should do good deeds so that the good karma helps our future generations like our children, grand children, etc. The present generation also thinks about how they are better off due to the good deeds done by their father, grand father, ancestors, etc. But, is this entirely correct? If so, then why one sibling in a family does extremely well, while another just the opposite? If the good deeds of the ancestors are rewarded, then why not all the members of the family enjoy the fruits and why should only some or one of the siblings in the same family suffer? Or, is it more to it than meets the eye? Well, I find that the answer lies in the Bhagvad Gita.

Regarding Rebirth: Verse 22 of Chapter-2 of Srimad Bhagwad Gita:

vasansi jirnani yatha vihaya navani grihnati naro ‘parani

tatha sarirani vihaya jirna nyanyani samyati navani dehi

Meaning:

As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, similarly, the soul accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones.

Alternatively:

As a person sheds worn-out garments and wears new ones, likewise, at the time of death, the soul casts off its worn-out body and enters a new one.

With regard to the PROOF of rebirth or reincarnation, please go through my previous post:

Concept of Rebirth – Srimad Bhagvad Gita & the support of (Baby) science – a reiteration of the ancient Indian wisdom

Regarding action/karma: Verse 12 of Chapter-18 of Srimad Bhagvad Gita:

anishtam ishtam mishram cha tri-vidham karmanah

phalam bhavathi atyaginam pretya na tu sanyasinam kvachit

Meaning:

Actions-Unpleasant, pleasant & mixed, three-fold fruits of actions accrue to those who are attached to personal rewards after death; but not for the renouncers of actions ever!

Alternatively:

The three-fold fruits of actions—pleasant, unpleasant, and mixed—accrue even after death to those who are attached to personal reward. But, for those who renounce the fruits of their actions, there are no such consequences.

From the above verses of Bhagvad Gita, can we not safely infer that only the individual himself is responsible for his actions-whether good or bad.

One more point I would like to mention is that, we should also understand that an individual is born and living in his circumstances according to his own frequency i.e. the frequency which he himself chose to be in – “Thatvamasee”/ தத்வமஸீ/ തത്വമസി/ तत्त्वमसी. Now that I had asked a question and also exhibited a part of the reason(yes, it is only a part), let me add another aspect to this issue. Yes, you guessed it right. In vastu, each member(male/female & also the hierarchy) of a family is not only governed by specific directions, but also a combination of directions of the house in which they reside/ possess, and their correctness/ defect has its own effects on them. {This should not be mistaken with the concept(being advocated by some in this field) where they specify one direction of the plot as suitable for the head of a house according to his star/nakshatra. I could not understand the logic as to how the house will do any good to all the family members, when the members of a family are born in different nakshatras can reside in a single such house, if this concept is to be followed.} So, now my lucky ones who had read this, could you decipher yet another secret of this universe and the reason why I keep harping on ‘vastu’ 🙂

Note: Vastu may not be required for Saints, but essential for normal humans!

Understanding Vastu – 4 (Vastu and Trees)

Out of the six basic Vastu rules specified in my previous posts, one rule is that South/West/South West should be higher than North/East/North East respectively. This is applicable to structures within the compound also. So, big trees can be planted in the South West direction. Avoid any kind of trees or plants in the North East direction. It is better that the North East portion of the plot should be clean and clear. There is a difference between cutting trees and avoiding planting trees. I never recommend cutting trees or plants because trees have life too. If a flower is crushed, we smell the scent/fragrance. Similarly, if a branch is axed, we can observe that a liquid oozes out, which is nothing but a demonstration of LIFE (For further details regarding plants, one can read the works of Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose, Stephano Mancuso, Botanist, etc.) Cutting or killing trees/plants will definitely have bad effect on our lives. I feel we should not unnecessarily destroy LIFE on our planet. I do not want to attract any bad karma to hit my clients as well as me too. It will be better if any trees/plants which are present in the North East portion, to be removed and replanted elsewhere. Also it will be better to understand the difference between plucking fruits or vegetables or flowers and uprooting the whole plant. However, let’s be pragmatic too. At this point, I would like to point out a quote from Bhagvad Gita, Verse 49 of Chapter-18, given below:

asakta-buddhih: sarvatra jitatma vigata-sprahah
naishkarmya-siddhim paramam sannyasenadhigachchhati

Meaning: Those whose intellect is unattached, who have mastered the mind, and are free from desires by the practice of renunciation, attain the highest perfection of freedom from action.

I have only one point to make, which is quite important. Whenever any of the six basic vastu rule is violated, it will do a lot of good to correct it. We have to keep in mind that we can’t pour from an empty jug. So, first we have to take care of ourselves in order to help others. If it is not possible to remove and replant, in lieu of the sacrifice we should plant a lot of trees. Care should also be taken to not plant trees which affect the health of the family members. For example, growing lemon trees in the vicinity of a residence affects the health of males even though consuming Lemon in limited quantities has more advantages than disadvantages. Here, one should know that any living organism, whether a plant or an animal draws its life energy from the environment it lives. Vastu is also about balancing all these energies.

Grow tall trees like coconut, mango, etc at the external southwest portion of the building. While growing trees, care also should be taken to see that a pit is not formed around the trees or plants for watering purposes.

The thulasi plant should be kept at the south east portion of the house. The simple reason being since Thulasi is worshipped and hence, lamp is lit. Lamp can be lit in South East which is related to Agni. The North East portion of the house should be clean and free above the ground level including trees or plants.

Vastu & Compound Wall!

One must have seen the characteristics of a magnet. All of us know that it has a North Pole and a South Pole. If we break a piece of magnet, we find that each new piece, individually, will have both a North Pole and a South pole. In vastu, a compound wall acts as a similar function in making a plot individualistic – a separate entity cut off from the adjacent area. Once a plot is properly cut off from other area, the positive effects of that individual plot comes into play. Such is the importance of a compound wall which plays a big role in the life of a resident. Hence, it is always advised that on purchase of a property the first thing to do is to construct a compound wall.

The following points may be kept in mind while constructing a compound wall.

  • The compound wall of the house should be in square or rectangle in shape.
  • While digging for the foundation of constructing the compound wall, it should start from North East and then should end up in South West. Vice versa, the construction should start from South West and then finally end up in North East.
  • The wall on the South / West should be higher than the North / East respectively.
  • The space between the building and the compound wall should be more in the North / East than South / west.
  • The walls i.e. the wall of the building and the compound wall should be parallel to each other.
  • Do not construct any structure touching the compound wall. Similarly, plants or other structures should not be kept on the North / Eastern walls.
  • In towns / cities where there are streets / roads, the compound wall should be aligned with the road / street and should not be protruding outside causing wrong street focus(தெரு குத்து / தெரு பார்வை / വീഥി ശൂല / विधि शूल).
  • The gate(s) should be planned in the Positive zone.
  • If it is a corner plot in cities/towns, where splay is compulsory, it has to be managed by sacrificing our portion of the plot to make it into a square or rectangle one.
  • Each plot / house should have a separate compound wall for itself and it should not be adjusted and constructed as one wall between two plots of the neighbours.

P.S.: Please keep in mind that not all knowledge can be put out by writing in Black & White in a Blog or a Book. Apart from the points mentioned above, one has to know that there are other aspects like for example, the bad effects of a hillock in the North or East sides of the plot/house cannot be nullified by a Compound Wall.

Understanding Vastu – 3 (Vastu and the secret of success)

This is an elaborate post. Only serious readers can go through and understand this one, even though I have given it in a plain and simple language.

Generally, while questioning about the relevance of vastu in our life, we tend to ask as to whether a famous or a rich person is living in a good vastu house. For example, we mockingly ask whether big businessmen like Bill Gates of Microsoft or Steve Jobs of Apple or democratically elected leaders like Donald Trump of USA or Narendra Modi of India or famous actors like Salman Khan or Akshay Kumar have come to such a position by using vastu. The honest answer by any layman will be ‘we don’t know exactly’.

Another question will be, whether living in a good vastu house will provide an individual with health, wealth and happiness. My answer to this question is ‘mostly yes’. You can understand by the explanation given by me below, which will clarify how it is only ‘mostly yes’ and not ‘100% yes’.

My explanation for both the above questions:

Alternatively, it can also be asked like – Are people living in vastu defective houses not leading a good life?

Here, I recollect the story of the elephants and the blind men. For those of you who do not know, you may go through the post given below:

As far as vastu is concerned, it should be considered as an important tool which we can use it along with our journey to success. “Thatvamasee” (தத்வமஸீ/ തത്വമസി/ तत्वमसि) is an important concept which I would like to bring to focus here. One may find all big thinkers of this beautiful land (with magnificent ancient knowledge) like Jagadhguru Aadhi Shankaracharya to Swami Vivekananda’s works will be based on this most important single word. You will also find that only this basic concept is used by the Modern day motivational writers or speakers, but with different words. The meaning is simple and clear. You are what you think you are. Alternatively, You become what you think. So, the whole secret of the cause & effect or activity or experience of humans is based on only about our ‘thoughts’.

As regards health, yes, vastu provides good health to the inhabitants. Vastu provides the healthy mind which will be balanced in approach with all our dealings including with other living beings. The choice of living in a good vastu house is the choice to work along with the forces of nature and not away from it. A healthy mind will overcome conflicts with ease and without any pain on either sides. Any illness does not manifest itself suddenly in the physical body. It happens inside first. It’s seeds are sown within and then the impulses are manifested outside as change in personality or some occurrence of illness(Those who are into ayurveda know this).

As far as richness (wealth) is concerned, I do not want to tell that richness is a state of mind of a person and is relative with the external world, even though it is, in a way. The reason being, I do not want to show, that, as an excuse for not becoming real rich in material terms also, the earlier statement being in the mode of mental or philosophical or spiritual thinking, whatever name may be given for the same. Being rich in terms of material wealth fulfils most of an individual’s desires. How can anyone attract money if he hates those who possess it? Money is like salt and an important ingredient in day to day life. Anything which is loved will be attracted. No one can be held responsible for being born poor, but sure he is solely responsible, if one dies poor. One should also know that no yantra or mantra can make an individual wealthy. One should be smart in working and making money. Smartly making money does not in any way means unethically. It should always be approached in a positive way. At this juncture, I would also like one to observe the way the temples are built. The importance of temples in one’s life has long been forgotten and is not known to many. Many people think that installing srichakra/sriyantra will increase the riches of a temple. But, experience shows different results. If you observe the overall situation of a temple including its deity by applying the vastu rules, you will be pleasantly surprised at the effects of vastu. Similarly, it will be of little use, if the objects like yantras or pyramids are used in a house. These things are waste of time and money and can only placate the disturbed mind for a very short duration. There is no shortcut to rectify bad vastu. If any rule is not followed in respect of any portion of a house, it will show its effects on its inhabitants. Vastu is a Life changing one. It has to be handled cautiously.

Good Health, Wealth & Happiness is the consequence of a balanced mind, which happens with good vastu. Vastu also leads to ‘Success’ without ‘Loss’ . Experience tells that one who is ‘seemingly’ highly successful like the famous personalities mentioned above would have things (i.e. personal loss) which cannot be expressed or told to the outside world. Vastu can be used as a balancing factor to avoid pitfalls in certain areas of life in lieu of the huge success in another.

For going further into this subject, one can also go through my post given in this link below:

Hence, it should be realised that, a house perfectly built as per Vastu, however small it may be, makes the inhabitant lead a relatively better life amidst prosperity and good health. In fact it is good to live in a house which is not too big, so as to, not attract the negative vibrations caused due to envy or jealousy of another individual. It will not be prudent to think that every individual residing in a dwelling, built as per Vastu becomes a Prime Minister or a multi-millionaire or a famous personality unless one intends to. Whatever happens will be definitely for good. It should also be borne in mind that health is wealth.

My way of leading a happy fulfilled life is to sail along with the nature. We are a part of this nature or supreme consciousness, by whatever name it is called, and the best way will be to live together with the laws of nature and to reap its benefits. The physical aspect of the secret of success is nothing but designing our place of dwelling as per the rules of vastu, which aligns with the tenets of nature, i.e. by living with the five elements in a positive way for peace and prosperity of all members of our family. This constitutes the major portion of the secret of success. The other important aspect is one’s own thoughts or attitude.

This knowledge which is shared above is quite important and one who comes to know and understands it, is near to lucky, and the one who has implemented, will find himself already shifted to a different plane of Life.

Best wishes for a Blissful Life 🙂

Understanding ‘Vastu’ – 2

I do not know whether this is a true life incident. But, being in the field of vastu, I find that this is what exactly happens to a person with good attitude. Knowing that “vastu” is an ultimate secret of this universe, I am posting this for getting a feel of how vastu works.

Munuswamy made it big in business so he spent money buying a piece of land in the city outskirts (Visakhapatnam rural) and built a 3 – storey farm house. He had an impressive swimming pool in the garden with a 100-year-old Mango Tree in the backyard to boot. In fact, he bought the property precisely because of this tree. His wife loved eating mangoes.

During renovations, his friends urged him to get guidance from a vastu pandit just to tread on the side of caution. Munuswamy drove Dr.Veera Reddy, a vastu pandit to the rural Visakhapatnam. Along the way, when cars behind them tried to overtake, Munuswamy would simply give way.

The vastu pandit laughingly remarked: “Munuswamy garu, your driving is really safe.”

Munuswamy laughed at the remark:  “Usually people who need to overtake have some urgent matter to attend to, so we shouldn’t  hold them up.”

Arriving at a small town, Vizianagaram, the streets grew narrow and so Munuswamy slowed down.

A giggling child suddenly came out from side lane and as the child ran across the street, Munuswamy still didn’t speed up. Instead, he kept his look on the lane, as if waiting for someone. Suddenly, another child came out, chasing after the child ahead.

Dr.Reddy was surprised and asked: “How did you know there’d be another child following suit?”

Munuswamy smiled: “Kids are always chasing after each other so it’s impossible for a child to be in such glee without a playmate.”

Dr.Reddy gave him a big thumbsup and laughed out loud: “That’s really considerate of you!”

Arriving at the farm house, they got down from the car. Suddenly about 7 to 8 birds flew off from the backyard. Seeing so, Swamy told Pandit: “If you don’t mind please wait here for a little while.”

“What’s the matter?” Pandit was taken aback.

“Oh, there’s probably some kids stealing mangoes in the backyard. If we walk in now we might give them a fright, let’s not risk anyone falling off the old Mango Tree.” Munuswamy replied humorously.

Pandit Veera Reddy stayed silent for a while before making a statement: “This home doesn’t need a Vastu treatment anymore.”

Now it’s Swamy’s turn to be shocked: “Why’s that?”

“Any place graced with your presence naturally becomes the property with the most auspicious Vastu.”

When our minds prioritise others’ peace and happiness, the one who benefits is not just others, but ourselves too. When a person is considerate of others at all times, then this person has unconsciously accomplished sainthood. The saint is in fact a person who through benefitting others become enlightened 🙂

HOPE YOUR HOME TOO DOES NOT NEED A VASTU 🙂

NOTE: It is generally observed that those who have good attitude tend to be in possession of a house with almost good vastu.

Vasthushastra and “Freedom”

One may wonder as to what is the relationship between Vastu and freedom. Well….well…well…that’s what we are about to discuss. Ancient Indian scriptures deals with the life of an individual as a whole and not in parts. Different aspects of an individual including physical, temperamental, and mental states are taken into consideration by an ayurvedic doctor before issuing a prescription. Imbalance of mind, body and spirit cause diseases. The panchabhootas or the five elements of fire, air, earth, water & space make up the whole universe as also for the entities within. I recollect the story of the blind men and the elephant…well…it goes like this…

Each blind man touches and feels only one part of the elephant’s body and jump to conclusions. The one who felt –

the trunk concluded it was a snake

the ear concluded it was a fan

the leg concluded it was a tree

the stomach concluded it was a wall

the tusk concluded it was a sharp object

the tail concluded it was a rope

All of them were not even near to what was right. When an individual is not even near to what is right, one has to wonder what will happen when these type of ‘conclusions’, as decided by the individuals, are combined in order to know the whole truth. Is it not, that the elephant is more than the sum of snake, fan, wall, etc. Our human race is presently in this type of situation – not knowing facts.

Vasthushastra is an ancient science of dwelling, which relates to the five elements, which when complied with, will ensure the happiness, peace and prosperity of the inhabitant.

By living in a house constructed as per the rules of vasthu, the inhabitant start to enjoy the power being given by the universe and in turn fulfills all his desires thus leading to nothingness. This state of nothingness can also be called as freedom. It has to be kept in mind that construction and occupation of a vasthu compliant house depends on the individuals. An individual has to make himself eligible for possessing a vasthu compliant house. It is a cycle wherein, a person occupying a vasthu compliant house will lead a life of virtue like being truthful, taking care of his parents, treating all humans equally, etc and viceversa, a person who possesses these qualities will tend to construct and occupy a good vasthu complaint house. Hence, it is very important for an individual to have a good attitude. It has to be understood that as per ancient Indian scriptures, one’s comfort (physical/mental) in life depends on karma i.e. one’s own previous deeds(good or bad). And also there is a concept of rebirth. It is told that we are born to fulfil the unfulfilled desires we had in our previous birth. Whether the scriptures are right or wrong regarding the issue of rebirth, will it not be good to enjoy a life of fulfillment.

Understanding ‘Vastu’ – Real life Example-1

This post can be read in continuation of yesterday’s post of Applying Sri Aandal Vastu Rules.

Let me quote a real life example for easy understanding. Once, during the course of surveying a residence for vasthu defects, some corrections were suggested. Here, I give the relevant two of these important corrections for getting an idea of how vasthu works. These were – (1) closing of the Septic pit in the SouthWest region, (2) removing the toilet in the SouthEast. Well, what happened was the corrections related to the closing of the septic pit in the SouthWest and others were done, but the toilet in the SouthEast was not removed and the same was kept pending for removing at a later date. What used to happen to the family, before corrections, was that, the head of the family i.e.the owner of the property used to get hospitalized frequently, but after the pit in the SouthWest was closed, his hospitalization stopped. But, within a year, his wife was admitted to hospital for removal of uterus. When it was reported that she was hospitalized, it was asked as to whether the toilet in the SouthEast was also removed and the answer was “Not yet”. This example shows the effect of vasthu on individual members (male/female) of the family in a house. In this case, the rectification of the SouthWest portion helped the Male member, but then it started affecting the female member because, the SouthEast portion was still defective. Some of the lessons for us: (1) vasthu is a serious business, (2) a vasthu defect in a particular directional area of a plot/building affects a particular member of the family, thereby affecting the joy of the entire family, (3) Prevention is better than cure, (4) it is always advisable to effect all the suggested changes simultaneously or atleast within a short period of time.

Applying Sri Aandal Vastu rules!

This post can be read in continuation of yesterday’s post of Sri Aandal Vastu Rules. Once these vastu rules are read, it is natural for anyone to verify it with respect to their place of residence. It should also be kept in mind that even those who are living in houses with bad vastu, may not always suffer. There are 2 types of factors as to why suffering is prevalent in individuals. We do not have any control over the first type/group of factors i.e. like time or place of birth, past karma/actions, etc. The 2nd type is entirely in our own hands i.e. what we choose to do NOW for the FUTURE. Vastu is one of them, but dependable. On our way to achieve our goals, we can properly make use of the knowledge which we come across without getting too obsessed with one particular thing. Generally, vastu angle is thought of when one realizes that there is a blockade in one’s path to different goals like job, career, business, marriage, bearing child, relationships or even related to health-both physical & mental, accidents, debts, cases – civil or criminal, etc. A feeling is also generated in one’s mind that there is something more to it than the efforts being put and not getting the desired results.

On verifying the residence with respect to these rules, if one finds that there are changes to be carried out, it is to be done with extreme caution. Why I advise with “extreme caution” is because, while carrying out the corrections it should be done quickly and wholly and not part by part, so that it can be ensured that the correction carried out in one portion may not leave some other portion defective. If this advise is not adhered, there is a risk of putting other family members into trouble. It is advisable to engage a vastu consultant at this stage. Anyone can question or clear the doubts from the consultant, by applying these rules. Wish you Happy Living!
